W is for Writer…

Writers are a strange and wonderful breed. While competing in an industry in which very few reach the exulted heights we all strive for, we do what no one fighting to get ahead in their career would do. We converge at conferences, workshops, on line, and then oddly, through whatever venue we find ourselves involved in, we share our experience and knowledge, helping those who are new to the craft as we learn from those with more experience and knowledge than we possess. We are, for the most part, a large family, and I for one have found many sisters—and a brother or two—who have become very near and dear to my heart.

Being a writer is no easy feat, so this post is dedicated to all my fellow writers and to those who have gone and continue to go above and beyond. Here’s to anyone who has offered a word of encouragement, labored over your critique partner’s manuscript, or fretted over just the right word or phrase in your own. May the voices in your head never be silent!

  1. Darah,
This is a subject dear to my heart, because I too have been so blessed. The authors that have helped me find my way through encouragement and generous wisdom are now some of my closest friends. This is one industry I’m extremely proud to be a part of. Write on!

  2. Hi Darah, I know what you mean about the voices in our heads. I just worry when I start talking back to them, LOL! What a great post to remind us writers that we’re not alone, though it can sometimes feel that way. I too have found the writing community a very supportive one.
